Energy reserves
Transmission system operators maintain reserve markets to ensure that electricity production matches consumption around the clock. Market participants can take part in these markets and manage their production or consumption according to the system’s needs. The energy markets determine the price participants must pay if they fail to produce or consume the volumes they committed to on the wholesale market in advance.
