Capacity reserves

Transmission system operators procure reserves from capacity markets to ensure that regulating capacity is always available, even in unexpected situations. On capacity markets, participants are compensated for their readiness to provide balancing actions that stabilize the system. In most markets, in addition to capacity payments, participants may also receive energy payments based on activations. Capacity market trading takes place early in the morning and covers several days ahead — our forecasts help ensure that the optimal trading opportunity can be identified at every moment.
